A year in focus
As we close off another amazing year for The Label Makers, it’s important to take the time to summarise some highlights. Here’s a selection of our favourites:
We were exhibiting at Packaging Innovations Birmingham early in the month. Stand looked great and plenty of interest in our labels. We’ve signed up to Packaging Innovations in February 2018, stand G12, so see you there!
This month we were successful at the Print & Design Marketing Awards with our Whitely Neal wrapper label which won the ‘Special effects including varnishes, foiling and raised effects’ category. The judges said that: ‘The patterned varnish technique combined with unique UV light brought the product to life.’ A good result!
A busy month which included our BRC audit from which we were awarded an A grade – we also attained the International Standard ISO 9001 – lots of hard work from the team in achieving both.
We were shortlisted in the Solutions Awards for our Lanique Spirit label and benefitted from some joint PR with our friends at Dantex who supplied us with their Star Plate imaging film solution to replace our traditional imagesetter.
Delighted to be the first label company in the UK to be a beta site for Durst’s new Tau 330 RSC digital label press. Testing started in October. Our Managing Director, David Webster, said: ‘Becoming the first customer to install the Tau 330 RSC is a huge step for us. I definitely see the future of label production as inkjet. A major attraction of getting a third Tau 330 is its increase in printing speed to 78m/min. Another is a big jump in quality with twice the resolution at 1200 x 1200dpi, plus the addition of the extra colour green. This means we can cover 98% of Pantone shades.’
Also during the month we were over at Labelexpo in Brussels, where we won the Xeikon ‘Spirits’ label category with our Lanique label – happy days!
Cue drum roll….during this month we won the ‘Label Printer of the Year’ award at the Print Week Awards 2017! Clearly the roof came off at the LabMak HQ in Bradford! A fabulous result.
During November we were up in Edinburgh for the Spirits Summit – an event organised by Packaging News, with its focus on the spirits market. This was great opportunity to network and give visitors a good insight into our capabilities (shame about the power cut though!).
We were also in the spotlight again with a win in the LABELS (PROCESS) category for our Kakapo wine label in the FlexoTech awards. Delighted!
To round the year off nicely we had some excellent coverage for our labels for the Simpkins limited edition festive sweets launch.
All in all a busy and a very successful year! We wish you all a great Christmas break and a healthy, prosperous New Year.
